Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

Many people, even after rigourous exercise and dieting, still find it difficult to achieve the size and shape of buttocks that they deserve and desire. Depending on your bodies natural shape, there are a number of techniques and procedures that can be utilised in order to achieve this. THE BBL PROCEDURE

Your physician at American Aesthetic will remove fat cells from your tummy waist or back, using a standard liposuction procedure. The fat removed during this process will be put through a centifuge, so that viable fat cells can be extracted. These will then be injected into the buttock or hip area in order to provide volume and shape.

Can men get a Brazilian Butt lift?

Despite popular belief a brazilian butt lift is not just for women, it is also for men. Many men also complain of having a flat backside and sometimes this can affect their self-esteem. Although the procedure is basically the same, there are subtle differences between male and female BBLs. A male BBL is performed in such a way that the patient is left with square masculine shaped buttocks as opposed to a more curvy, volumptuous backside.

What to expect

Shortly after surgery, you should expect to have swelling and this will lessen over the next few weeks. As with many other similar procedures, you will also have a drain attached to you so that any excess fluid can be extracted. There will also be some bruising to the area and numbness and tingling in the lower back is not uncommon; This usualy subsides within a month or 2. You should also expect to wear a special garment that will aid in contouring and placement of the transfered fat. Once the recovery period is up around 40-50% of the transfered fat will remain. Final results could take anywhere between 6 months to a year.

POST-OP CARE

• • You should use the special pillow that you will be given until directed by your physician
• • For a period of 1 month, you should sleep on your front to prevent deformation of the BBL
• • You should wear the post-op “step 1 garment” for a period of one week after the operation.
• • You should make sure that the garments are fitted well making sure there are no creases or folds.
• • From the second week onwards you should wear the “step 2 garment” until directed.
• • Try to refrain from sitting for long periods of time and keep moving as much as you can.
• • Take the medication you were prescribed by your surgeon until it is complete.
• • Do not smoke or drink alcohol as these may interfere with the healing process.
• • Empty out any drains that have been put in place as directed by your surgeon or patient coordinator and be careful to note how much fluid has been drained.
• • You may take a shower a day after the operation but do not scrub the area and make sure that the area is patted dry.
• • Avoid eating spicy foods and sugar free sweets or candy and also avoid foods high in salt as this may prolong swelling.
• • Drink plenty of water.
• • You may start lymphatic massage after the first 2 weeks of surgery. Please make sure that you go to a qualified practioner, however.

Liposuction

As we age, lose weight or after we give birth, we may find certain pockets of fat are harder to remove than others through exercise and diet alone. Liposuction can help remove this fat by extracting it with a very strong vacuum.
