Mastopexy (Breast Uplift)

Mastopexy, also known as a breast uplift, is a surgical procedure that lifts and reshapes the breasts without necessarily reducing or increasing the size. The procedure involves rearranging breast tissue, occasionally repositioning the nipple and increasing the firmness of the breasts by tightening the skin. Mastopexy alone cannot increase the size of the breasts. If such an increase is desired, it may be combined with a breast implant procedure.

Post-op care

• • Make sure that you take all of the mediicine prescribed by your surgeon.
• • A corset should be worn for the first month after the procedure but in some cases the surgeon may suggest that you can wear a sports bra after the first week.
• • After this time period, you may discontinue wearing the corset and wear a bra that has no wire supports.
• • It is normal to have bruising or for the wound to seep after the operation. It is nothing you should be concerned about. However, If the fluid seeping through smells and is a yellowish brown colour a, please contact your patient coordinator immediately.
• • Your first post-op shower: you may shower 10 days after the operation has taken place. Be sure to remove any bandages and avoid using shower gel whilst showering, instead use a natural soap. You should not shower for too long and the water ideally should be tepid (neither hot nor cold). As soon as you have finished taking a shower, you should dry the wound with a dry clean towel and then cover it with a guaze and padding before putting your bra back on..
• • Your second post-op shower: You may take your second shower 2 days after the first. You should not pick at the stitches or attempt to remove them. İn time they will disintergrate by themselves.
• • You can go for a light walk 1 week after the operation.
• • Do not reach up with your arms, carry and pick up heavy loads or drive for the first 2 weeks post-op.
• • You may commence light activities such as walking and dancing after the first 2 weeks post-op.
• • Light sports can be commenced 4-6 weeks after the procedure.
